Umm...what happened to April??

I mean, for real? This month is FLYING by, especially now that Clay and I are both coaching and heading into the final stretches with our students. So much to do, so little time...but how exciting is that?? So little time! 6 weeks until summer! That is crazy!!

Clay and I managed to sneak down to Auburn to visit Clay's cousins Carey and Rachel for the Easter holiday. We had a blast! Auburn is gorgeous, but mostly we cherished time with these incredible women and their men. Rachel and Joe are getting married on June 20 in Birmingham, so we won't have to wait long before seeing them all again and celebrating some more!

We dyed Easter eggs!
The adorable engaged couple :-)
Umm...so I didn't know any of these kids at Carey and Mark's Church in Auburn, but they were so darn cute and excited about their Easter Egg Hunt that I couldn't help but snap a picture.
Carey, Rachel, Joe, Clay, and me after our insanely huge and yummy Easter brunch. Mark is not in the picture because...he was in the kitchen making all the yummy food! Thanks, Mark!

There's No Place Like Home

Last weekend Cam and I had so much fun in Louisville! I was so excited to look at my planner last week and find a (fairly) free weekend, so I took advantage of it and headed home to Kentucky to see my wonderful parents. It's amazing what just 40 hours can do in terms of feeling close to dear family--and feeling relaxed and recharged. Grades and comments were due last Friday, so the lack of recent posts can be attributed to the long nights I spend trying to say something original about each student I teach. I turned them in, taught four classes, picked up the Cam-dawg, and headed home! 4.5 hours later, I pulled into my favorite driveway of all time and was warmly welcomed by Mom, Dad, Max and Maggie...who weren't quite as happy to see Camden :-). The weekend went to the dogs, for sure, but by the end, they were all playing together happily and having so much fun. And so did I. Ah, I love going home.

Here's a quick run-down of the weekend:
* ate Mom's yummy granola bars, which are 10 times better than mine--and we use the EXACT same recipe. Goes to show that its always better when Mama makes 'em.
* Went to Milestone. My favorite gym of all time. Sue's Stretch and Abs=Heaven.
* Lunch with Nonna, who at 86 (I think) is more lively and fun than ever. I want to be that woman.
* Fun shopping trip with Mom at Chartreuse. Gege gave me a $100 gift card for Christmas and I was determined to use it. A fun top, several pairs of earrings, and two headbands later, Mom and I were out of there with change to spare. Thanks, Gege!
* A good visit with angel Marguerite. What a selfless, inspiring woman.
* Tickets with Dad (Thanks so much, Ellen!!!!!) to see Wild Blessings: A Celebration of Wendell Berry at Actors Theatre. Dad and I agreed it got better as it progressed. It definitely made me want to read more of his poetry!
* Dinner at Cafe LouLou with Gege and Lynne. LOVE this place! There is one in Louisville, one in Louisiana--hence, LouLou!
* A walk up and down the street with all the dogs. Five people, four dogs. Woah.
* A challenging game of Scrabble. Guess who won? Yup, Dad. It amazes me that even after becoming an English teacher, my dad is still better at me at almost every part of my job: teaching, grading papers, grammar, Scrabble...wait? Is Scrabble part of my job? How much fun would that be?
* Sleep. Thank God Camden didn't howl Saturday night like he did all night long Friday night. Sara Jenney was exhausted.
* A relaxing Sunday morning with The Sunday Courier-Journal and Meet the Press. Great combination.
* Palm Sunday service at 2nd Presbyterian. The kids waving palms were so cute! I love Palm Sunday. Hosanna!
* A visit to new bakery Cake Flour. Beautifu and yummy, but pricey.
* 4.5 hours home with sweet (and tired) Cam-dawg curled up on the passenger seat asleep for most of the ride. What an adorable companion.

Thanks for a great weekend, Mom and Dad! Love you!

p.s. I had to stop writing this post for a second because I noticed Camden was chewing on something. I walk over and he looks up at me, revealing a mouth COVERED IN BLUE INK. I look closer...yup, my dog's fur is now BLUE. Awesome.
